Freshers at UEL with their chaplain, and CTS's CREDO booklet

We have just received this grateful letter from a university chaplain in East London:

Dear friends at CTS Publications,

This is a short message informing you of the wonderful event of Freshers Fair spread out over four days at the University of East London.

At the very beginning of a new and hopefully enduring tradition of a full-time Catholic Chaplain at UEL, it was important to be able to relate to the students and encourage them to give us their contact details.  In all, seventy students and staff signed up as being interested in our activities.  They all had the chance to see one of the two chaplains who were present, Father Peter (“part-time” chaplain, religious brother and priest) and Brother Thomas (“full-time” chaplain, religious brother and deacon).

We were able to pass to each one of them a “UEL Catholic Society Term-Card” even if, strictly speaking, the “Catholic Society”, a student-run society recognised by the Student Union as such, did not actually exist at the time.  In fact, only now is it literally a few days away from being formed.   :-)

For those who expressed an interest, and many did, we gave them a copy of “Credo – the Catholic Faith Explained” by CTS.  Thank you for giving us this possibility.

Peace to you all,

your Brother Thomas (Community of Saint John)
